Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from University of Kerala in 2007. He did his Internship and Residency training in internal medicine (Categorical) at University of Connecticut from 2009 to 2012 and he went on to his fellow ship in pulmonary & critical care at Cleveland Clinic from 2012 to 2016. He is currently an Assistant Professor of medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Michigan, USA.
Dr. Kumar’s research interest mainly focus on interstitial lung diseases, lung transplantation, sarcoidosis, bronchoscopy, critical care and ARDS. To date, he has published many papers for his work in the international journals, including Critical Care Clinics, Connecticut Medicine, Brazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, et al.
Dr. Kumar has several memberships in the national and international societies, including American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), American Thoracic Society (ATS), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), American College of Physicians (ACP), American Association of Physicians of Indian Origian (AAPI) and Indian Medical Association (IMA). In addition, he has won many awards/honors for his work, including Excellence in teaching for academic year 2014- 2015, Caregiver award, American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) “Chest Challenge” national champion and American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) “Chest Challenge” national champion, et al.
