Christian Jung graduated from Freiburg University, Germany as MD and received training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Germany. In addition he received his PhD at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden for an experimental and translational thesis in myocardial ischemia- and reperfusion injury and endothelial biology. Since 2015 he holds the professorship for interventional cardiology and cardiovascular intensive care medicine at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany. His research interests include acute myocardial infarction in basic science as well as in the clinical scenario including new pharmacological approaches as well as new devices, techniques and imaging modalities in addition to endothelial cell biology and metabolism. In the clinical scenario, also microcirculatory disorders are central key elements of his research, particularly in critically ill patients and patients with (cardiogenic) shock. He is coauthor of more than 180 publication, active speaker at different conferences and serves as nucleus member of the working group for critical care medicine within the German society of cardiology.
