Frank Bloos, MD, PhD

Dr. Bloos graduated from School of Medicine at the Free University of Berlin in 1989. He did his postgraduate training at the University of Western Ontario (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/biophysics/) until 1993 and holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics. Since 1994, he is working as an anesthesiologist at the Jena University Hospital  (http://www.kai.uniklinikum-jena.de/KAI/English) and is an ICU consultant since 2002.

His scientific interest is patient-centered research regarding diagnosis and therapy of sepsis. In this context, he organized and actively participated in several national investigator initiated multicenter trials in Germany. Many of them are published in high-ranked international journals. He is member of the board of directors of the Center for Sepsis Control an Care , CSCC, of the Jena University Hospital. He is currently running the CandiSep-Trial - a multicenter study to investigate (1,3)-β-D-glucan as guidance for antifungal therapy in non-neutropenic sepsis.
