Jordi Rello, served as Professor of Medicine at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, and has 30 years experience in Critical Care. He is currently Director of the Clinical Research & Epidemiology in Pneumonia and Sepsis (CRIPS) Group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute. http://www.vhir.org/gr/crips

He earned his Doctor of Medicine with Honors and his PhD at the University of Barcelona, Spain, followed by a residence and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care in 1990. His areas of research include studies on prevention and control of hospital-acquired infections, epidemiology of ventilator-associated pneumonia or severe community-acquired pneumonia, treatment of infections in critically ill patients and postoperative management of lung transplant.  He was active in developing many educational strategies, such as the APEX project or the Academy of Infection Management. He has been PI in above 50 RCT, and he is a senior consultant for drug development.His Research Group also is developing projects on biomarkers in (lung) transplant, infection and sepsis. Prof Rello has directed 15 doctoral thesis, he has an H-index of 91 (Google Scholar, march 2017) and has above 450 indexed manuscripts in PubMed.
